Malaysia petrol prices to be raised 78 sen on 5th June 2008It has been about 2 years that Malaysia petrol price stayed at RM1.92 per liter and I feel that it is reasonable for a raise in 2008. However I'm shock when our government announced a 78 sen increment (+40%) which makes the petrol price at RM2.70 per liter while diesel price to be increase 1 ringgit (+63.3%) to RM2.58 ringgit per liter.
The gas price increment has given all the Malaysian a big impact. Personally I feel that it should be raised gradually especially when the peoples are pressured with high inflation currently. However, Malaysian government chooses to make it one shot and it instantly caused a horrible traffic jam in Klang Valley. Almost all the traffic jam is caused by the queue at Petrol Station.
Besides the instant reaction, there is a huge chain effect awaiting us. So what I would say is, Malaysian should have prepared for this after the vote.
