Ka Soh Seafood Restaurant at Medan DamansaraI went to Ka Soh Seafood Restaurant at Medan Damansara for dinner yesterday after reading KampungBoyCityGal’s food blog . I knew Ka Soh restaurant quite some time back when it was introduced in the HoChak program by 8TV. The restaurant is famous with its fish head noodles for decades. My wife is a big fan of fish head noodle and because of that; we have gone to the Ka Soh at Jalan Bukit Bintang 3 times purposely. Unfortunately, we have not tried the fish head noodle until yesterday due to the restaurant’s business hour (1st time couldn’t find the restaurant; 2nd time reached at 5pm and they only started at 6:30pm and 3rd time reached at 2:45pm and they said they are going to close at 3pm). I was putting a high expectation with Ka Soh’s fish head noodle after a few times of fail attempt. Maybe because of that, the food is below my expectation doesn’t really impress me. Anyway, I bring my camera there and took some pictures.
This is the 1st time I try my Olympus E-510 for food shooting. I bring the 14-42mm lens only because I knew that I’m not going to use the 40-150mm lens of the indoor shooting. I brought my flash too but never use. The pictures are taken with handheld camera, aperture priority mode, ISO 400 / 800 with Image Stabilizer (IS) on. 1. The Acar and Peanuts is served as the appetizer. It is the default for all the tables even you did not order it. Acar is not bad – rated 8/10 (by me )
2. Fish head noodle (fish slice) with white colour soup. The soup is said contain no milk and it is the natural colour from boiling the toman fish** bone. The fish head noodle has a very strong chinese cooking rice wine smell. My rating - 7/10.
3. Homestyle vegetables is a dish with mixture of glass noodles, white cabbage, tin mushrooms, green beans, golden needle mushroom, black fungus and “fu chok” which is cooked with read bean source. My rating – 5/10.
4. Sea coconut Longan lemon – a cold dessert serve with tin sea coconut, tin longan and a slice of lemon. Me and my wife like this very much and it can be prepared at home. My rating – 9/10.
Will I going back again for the fish head noodle? Probably not the fish head noodle, other food maybe.
